I love the joy in this image (original below), captured by Dorothy Lange in 1937. It's labeled Children of migratory carrot pullers, Mexicans. Imperial Valley, California. I added mint and milkweed blossoms in this little one's pocket, nd tucked tomato flowers (photographed in my balcony garden) behind her ear. Pollinators joined, too. And pinned to her overalls? A button: Solidarity, Farm Workers, from my mother's collection. And I don't know her name, so I'm calling this image Xóchitl, which means flower in Nahuatl. Xóchitl was also a warrior queen.
